The Pacific Chamber Orchestra under Maestro Lawrence Kohl performs diverse global gems for string orchestra. The program begins with a popular standard in the literature: Mozart’s beloved Eine Kline Nach Musik, and then follows Russian, Latin American and United States composers in a fascinating exploration of the evolving use of the string orchestra: Shostakovich’s evocative String Quartet #8 arranged for String Orchestra, a delightful Tango Suite with works by Piazzolla and Jeremy Cohen, and a passionate Symphony for Strings (world premier) by Los Angeles composer Christopher Caliendo.
