Meet Gary Peare, our new Administrator
Please join us in welcoming Gary Peare to PCO.
Gary is veteran business leader with over 30 years’ experience in marketing strategy and design, Gary most recently served as Managing Director for Bay Area Children’s Theatre (BACT), California’s largest educational theatre organization for young audiences. While at BACT, he was responsible for business transformation initiatives that enabled the organization to serve over 125,000 children and adults annually.
In his new role at PCO, Gary will lead marketing and business operations and will work closely with me and the PCO Board on fundraising and strategic initiatives. We’re excited to have Gary join us, particularly at this critical time in the Orchestra’s history. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected all performing arts organizations–including ours–but we are fortunate to be coming off the successful 2019-2020 concerts of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Handel’s Messiah. His arrival is at a perfect time as we continue to provide on-line enrichment, and to plan for and celebrate our return to the concert halls in early 2021.
For Peare, joining PCO represents the continuation of his life-long passion for music and the arts. HIs undergraduate degree was in arts administration, but his career path drew him into the world of advertising and design. We’re fortunate that he’s now decided to devote his skills to the non-profit arts sector.
Peare is himself a musician and educator, and holds a Level 3 (highest) Certification from the James Hill Ukulele Initiative teacher’s program. He is a long-time resident of Lafayette and can be spotted conducting the all-volunteer Orinda Marching Band in the city’s Fourth of July parade. When you meet him at our next event, be sure to ask him about his past life as a clown with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
